US Trade Negotiator Robert Lighthizer admits that Chinese socialism is an unprecedented threat to the survival of US capitalism.
"The sheer scale of their coordinated effort to develop their economy, to subsidize, to create national champions, to force technology transfers and to distort markets in China and throughout the world is a threat to the world trading system that is unprecedented."

China's economic model represents an "unprecedented" threat to the world trading system that can't be addressed under current global rules, President…

The prospect for US economic growth is expected to be very sluggish for the foreseeable future. Roughly US 2.5% growth versus 6.5% of China. Reagan boosted growth by borrowing from Japan. But that source is no longer tappable. To stimulate growth, US could borrow from just two economies today: Germany or China. It is doubtful that Germany will oblige to bolster US economy while US is damaging EU economy with sanctions against Russia, The military alliance between Germany and US will remain firm, but the economic alliance is and will not. That leaves China. China owns 1.5 trillion of US treasury bonds and has generously bought some more in recent months. Why, then, is the US trying to insult China by calling it a trade aggressor? What kind of policy is this that takes with one hand and punches with the other?
